Description

The Superior Cocoon is a revolutionary new type of top layer insulation. The Cocoons zips right onto the Superior or StarLite Hammock to create a warm draft-free seal. The bottom half zips in all the way to zipper at the end of the hammock. And the top part extends to full body length up the the shoulders. And because it only uses half of the zipper on the hammock, the other zipper half can still be used with our Half BugNet. The dimensions of the Cocoon do not in any way restrict a great diagonal lay. This design requires less overall down to achieve the same warmth because there isn’t any down wasted along the side of the legs.

The Superior Cocoon is perfect for mild weather, ultra-lighters trying to shed a few ounces, or for winter camping when paired with another Comforter or Top Quilt underneath.

I came across the SG stuff a few years ago at a hang… the guy nestled in his 11’ 30 was snug as a bug and espoused how happy he was- I said, ‘no way man… it can’t be that good- I like the opportunity to choose my own adventure with my gear…’
2 years later I picked up an elite 45 on a whim and was like, what are these zippers/snaps for!?
Now I know- this cocoon is amazing… truly, it’s like being in a sleeping bag, suspended a few feet off the ground and it’s wonderful.
I picked up the 50 because I live in KY and it’s hawt here in the summer… and this will make a wonderful accompaniment to my winter gear for layering .
Build quality is excellent- great stitching

Excellent product that solves the issue of top quilts shifting and slipping out of place. If you appreciate the convenience of the sewn-in UQ, you’ll be completely satisfied with this zip-in top quilt. And, when the temperature drops below 40 degrees, just layer in another top quilt: the cocoon will gather around your top quilt, keeping it in place, and keeping you warmer. The fabric and the down fill are each of minimal weight, but have exceeded their temperature comfort rating.

Wish there was an option for attaching when using the ‘full top cover’ when winter camping, or when using the full bug net.
I still used it, but obviously not as designed; just laid it over my top quilt to boost temp when winter camping. Will have to look into seeing if I can add an extra zipper (like Dutchwear) so that I can zip together the top cover/full bug net AND the cocoon.
